Data Objects

3D Modeling + Coding + Electronics + Sound Design

Explore the world of "Data Objects," where data meets art and critical design.

The Challenge

One of the most significant hurdles was gathering and interpreting data related to politicians' and teachers' salaries in Argentina, data often skewed for political gain. This necessitated a critical approach to understanding and representing the data. User testing sessions provided invaluable insights into how users interacted with and interpreted the project, making it one of the most intriguing aspects of the process.

The Process

The project called Data Object was composed of three key components. The first one, a tangible object, underwent several iterations of trials with users. The second facet was the auditory stimulus needed by the audience whilst observing the data objects, involving an initial binaural sound presence to draw the individual into the experience. The final component was an auxiliary website that provided the necessary audio and offered some explanation about the object in view.

Transformative Shift

"Data Objects" marked a pivotal shift in my mindset, transitioning from a product/business-oriented perspective to embracing a more artistic and critical approach. This experience encouraged me to see beyond the mere functionality and marketability of a product, which had been my primary focus for years. Instead, I concentrated on its ability to weave a narrative, reflect my passions, and evoke emotions. This newfound perspective opened up exciting avenues for creativity and expression.
